Tudor Village residents recently enjoyed a special visit from Zeus and Shiraz, the four-legged ambassadors for the Greyhound Adoption Program.
The Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP) is a program that is proudly managed by Greyhound Racing Victoria. The program is dedicated to finding forever homes for greyhounds who have retired from the racing industry.
GAP has several teams who assist in the care, training, and health of all greyhounds who come through the program. They also have an amazing base of volunteers who donate their time, and sometimes their homes, to many of the greyhounds on their way to their new pet lives.
Zeus was a national champion on the racetrack and he has only recently retired, whereas Shiraz has enjoyed most of her life as a canine lady of leisure. Both greyhounds enjoy lots of tail wagging and head patting as part of their duties to promote the benefits of adopting a greyhound.
Representing the GAP program for Greyhound Racing Victoria was Sean Stanton, Head of Rehoming and Stephanie Hazell, Volunteer Manager of the GAP program.
Sean and Stephanie gave the residents an idea of what it’s like to adopt a greyhound and the benefits of bringing one of these gentle and loving dogs into your home.
